Export

Importing company data into Excel: fields, sample file and checks

Before a real import, check how your application handles the export fields. The fictitious sample file helps you test delimiters, accented characters and text columns. CSV is the standard format; XLSX, JSON and custom columns are agreed before delivery. A direct integration with a particular CRM is not guaranteed.

File structure

What the file contains

Each row is a business or establishment, each column a data item. The structure is the same for all industries, so you can combine several exports or import them into the same CRM template.

Column in the CSVLabelContent
raison_socialeCompany nameregistered or trading name as given in the source.
forme_juridiqueLegal formfor example SAS, SASU, SARL, EURL, SA, SCI, association or sole trader (entrepreneur individuel, EI), from the Sirene database once the business has been matched to its SIREN.
sirenSIREN9-digit number of the legal unit (check digit verified), once matched with the Sirene database.
siretSIRET14-digit number of the establishment (SIREN + NIC), where known.
tva_intracommunautaireEU VAT numberFR + key + SIREN, only if the business publishes it itself.
adresseAddressstreet number and street of the business address as given in the source.
code_postalPostcodefive digits, stored as text (leading zero kept).
communeMunicipalitymunicipality (commune) of the business address.
departementDepartmentcode and name of the département, derived from the postcode.
regionRegionone of the 18 regions, derived from the département; the main filter for a regional selection.
secteurIndustryassignment to one of the 21 basedecontacts.fr industries.
code_nafNAF codemain activity (APE code) under NAF rév. 2, from the Sirene database once matched.
telephonePhonepublished business number in international format (+33 …).
emailEmailpublished business address as given in the source; a data field for CRM and matching, not a consent to marketing.
site_webWebsiteaddress of the company website including the protocol.

An empty field means the information was not available in the sources. We never fill it with assumed values. As of 4 November 2026, the records come from Overture Maps and from company websites: SIREN, SIRET, legal form and NAF code will come from the matching with the Sirene database, which is in progress, and the industry will follow from it. The quote states which fields your selection contains.

Import guide

From CSV test to a checked import

  1. Keep the original: store the delivered file unchanged. For testing, work with a copy and an empty target table.
  2. Open the import preview: choose your application’s text/CSV import, UTF-8 and semicolon. Check accented characters, and that each header is in its own column.
  3. Set data types: treat code_postal, telephone, siren and siret in particular as text. Before loading, check a phone number with +33 and a postcode starting with 0.
  4. Handle empty fields: import missing details as empty, not as the number 0. When matching, make sure empty import values do not automatically overwrite your existing details.
  5. Check for duplicates: use the SIRET or SIREN where available. Similar company names, identical phone numbers or websites are only hints; check doubtful cases before merging.
  6. Compare the result: do the row count, columns and samples match the original file? Only then move the checked import into your working data.

Field coverage before file size

A large file may be of little use for your purpose if a field you need is often missing. Compare the agreed required fields and the confirmed selection size. The database status page explains what the contact figures say and what they leave open.

Sample data

The following rows are sample data. The businesses in the table and in the sample file are entirely fictitious so that you can see the structure. SIREN, SIRET and VAT numbers are deliberately invalid, the phone numbers belong to the range that ARCEP reserves for works of fiction, and the email addresses end in the reserved domain .example. This is neither a real extract nor a list of contacts to approach.

In a real export, every row contains all 15 columns where the information is available. The column names in the CSV are in French.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the export

Decide this rule before importing. It usually makes sense to keep your own verified details and not to treat missing import values as deletion instructions. Test the field mapping with a copy and check your system’s preview.

An identical or similar name alone is not enough. Use the SIRET or SIREN where available, plus address information. One SIREN can cover several establishments: for an establishment, the key is the SIRET. The export does not guarantee a complete key for every record.

Do not open the file by double-clicking, otherwise Excel may display accented characters incorrectly, drop the leading zero of postcodes and read phone numbers with a leading plus as a formula.

In an empty workbook choose Data › From Text/CSV, set the file origin to Unicode (UTF-8) and the delimiter to semicolon. Set the postcode, phone, SIREN and SIRET columns to text and confirm with Load. LibreOffice Calc opens the import dialogue automatically.

We deliver CSV in UTF-8 with BOM, semicolons as delimiters and CRLF line endings. Excel and LibreOffice recognise this combination reliably. If your application expects commas or tabs, we prepare the file accordingly.

The published figures are as of 4 November 2026; the records come from Overture Maps (release 2026-10-21.0) and from company websites. Every quote states the date of the data in your selection. The date an export is created is not the date each individual contact was checked.

We do not guarantee a fixed update interval for all sources. Details are on the data sources and methodology page.

Yes. By default we deliver all 15 columns; on request you receive a file with only the fields you need for your CRM or campaign. Records without a complete address or without a website can also be excluded.

Towards businesses, yes, within the CNIL framework: an offer related to the recipient’s profession, sender identification and an unsubscribe link in every message, and respect for objections. Generic company addresses (contact@, info@) are not subject to these principles. Details: B2B email and phone prospecting.

That depends on industry, region and filters. An Excel worksheet holds at most 1,048,576 rows; on request we split very large selections by region or deliver them as JSON.
