Hauliers, logistics and parcel companies in France

Road hauliers, removal firms, coach operators, warehouse operators, charterers and freight forwarders, groupage and parcel delivery companies: for sellers of commercial vehicles, fuel and telematics, fleet insurers and shippers looking for transport partners in a region.

Our database for France holds 1,577,933 records (as of 4 November 2026); they are not yet assigned to industries. The quote states the size available for this industry.

Export of the whole industry: €359 (full price). Selections by region, department or your own filters are quoted on request.

Official statistics: 196,975 businesses in France according to Eurostat, structural business statistics (sbs_ovw_act) (reference year 2024, data as of 30 September 2026). Section H transportation and storage (divisions 49 to 53): land, water and air transport, warehousing, postal and courier activities. This is the size of the market, not the size of our database.

Building a list of hauliers around a depot

Define the trade (interurban freight, local delivery, removals, groupage, warehousing) and the area, for example the départements around a depot or hub. Making the phone number a required field suits call campaigns; the website helps you judge each firm’s size and speciality.

Our records do not yet carry a NAF code: selecting by activity (NAF subclass) will only be possible for records matched with the Sirene database (matching in progress). The quote states what can be done today: area and required fields.

The official figure shown covers the whole of section H, including air and sea transport and postal activities. It matches neither the number of road hauliers nor the number of companies on the transport register.

Price of the whole industry: €359. A selection by region, sub-industry or required fields is quoted individually; the whole-industry price is not a price promise for the filtered selection.

What counts as Transport and logistics

The sector is section H of NAF rév. 2: land and pipeline transport (49), water transport (50), air transport (51), warehousing and support activities (52), postal and courier activities (53). Road freight is split into interurban (49.41A), local (49.41B) and rental of lorries with driver (49.41C).

A company that carries its own goods in its own lorries stays classified under its main activity (trade, manufacturing, construction) and does not appear here. Taxis (49.32Z) and coach operators belong to the sector; ambulances are classified under health (86.90A), see Health, social care and wellbeing.

The transport register: registration is compulsory

Public goods transport is a regulated activity: registration is a precondition for operating. The information below comes from the guidance published by DREAL Normandie and from the VTC portal.

Public goods transport
According to the DREAL Normandie guidance (updated November 2023), registration is compulsory for public transport of goods with motor vehicles, whatever their weight, and for vehicle rental with driver. It also covers removals, parcel delivery by light commercial vehicle and meal delivery by motorised two-wheeler. Registration requires four conditions: establishment, good repute, professional competence and financial standing.
Licence and certified copies
Once registration is complete, the DREAL issues an authorisation to operate and transport documents: one licence kept at the head office and as many certified copies as vehicles in service (same guidance). Neither the registration number nor the number of copies is part of our export.
VTC register
Operators of chauffeur-driven hire cars (VTC) register, update and renew their file on the REVTC portal. The portal’s home page only offers authenticated access for these procedures, not a public search.

Not in the export

  • number of vehicles, tonnage and fleet composition
  • transport register number and licences
  • certifications and approvals for dangerous goods
  • names of directors, operations managers or transport managers
  • scheduled routes, rounds and shipper clients

The 15 columns supplied are described on the export page.

Fleet, branches, own-account transport: reading a transport list

The NAF code says nothing about fleet size or vehicle type. A haulier classified under 49.41A may run two rigid lorries or several hundred articulated units; our records contain neither the number of vehicles nor headcount. The website, where published, remains the best clue to a firm’s speciality.

For a truck dealer, the useful distinction is often between interurban (49.41A) and local transport (49.41B). For a fleet management software vendor, add groupage (52.29A) and parcel delivery outside the universal service (53.20Z).

Each branch of a haulier has its own SIRET. A parcel network present in many towns can therefore appear on several records, one per published branch; the siren column, filled after matching with Sirene, lets you group the branches of one company.

Questions

Transport and logistics: frequently asked questions

No. The registration number and licences are not among the 15 columns, and we do not check registration. According to DREAL Normandie, it is compulsory for all public transport of goods by motor vehicle, whatever the weight.

Not yet: our records do not carry a NAF code yet. INSEE classifies chartering, transport organisation and customs brokers under 52.29B; selection will be possible for records matched with Sirene (matching in progress). The quote states how many records carry this code in the requested area and how many still have no NAF code.

According to the CNIL, the rules on telephone canvassing have changed since 11 August 2026: consumers must give prior consent, while professionals have the right to object. The CNIL does not expressly address sole traders; the legal form column, filled after matching, lets you identify them. See B2B prospecting rules.
