Manufacturing companies in France

Machining and bar-turning shops, boilermakers, plastics processors, sawmills and joinery plants, machinery and electrical equipment manufacturers, chemical companies: for suppliers of materials, tooling and maintenance, system integrators and industrial software vendors who want to target the production sites of a département or region.

Our database for France holds 1,577,933 records (as of 4 November 2026); they are not yet assigned to industries. The quote states the size available for this industry.

Export of the whole industry: €409 (full price). Selections by region, department or your own filters are quoted on request.

Official statistics: 217,181 businesses in France according to Eurostat, structural business statistics (sbs_ovw_act) (reference year 2024, data as of 30 September 2026). Section C manufacturing (279,540) excluding divisions 10 food products (56,300), 11 beverages (6,054) and 12 tobacco products (5). This is the size of the market, not the size of our database.

Targeting a subcontractor network

Start from a group of related NAF classes (machining, bar turning, surface treatment, maintenance), then an area: one département, one region or several neighbouring départements. Making the website a required field lets you check each firm’s processes afterwards.

Our records do not yet carry a NAF code: selecting by activity (NAF subclass) will only be possible for records matched with the Sirene database (matching in progress). The quote states what can be done today: area and required fields.

The official figure shown for this sector covers all divisions 13 to 33 and counts enterprises, not establishments. It says nothing about the number of plants in a given speciality.

Price of the whole industry: €409. A selection by region, sub-industry or required fields is quoted individually; the whole-industry price is not a price promise for the filtered selection.

What counts as Manufacturing

Manufacturing is section C of the French NAF rév. 2 classification. This page covers divisions 13 to 33: textiles, wood, paper, chemicals, plastics, metals, mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic equipment, transport equipment, furniture, and also repair and installation of machinery (division 33), which INSEE classifies as industry rather than services.

Food and beverage manufacturing (divisions 10 and 11) is covered under Agriculture, forestry and food. Fitting roof frames or joinery on site is construction (section F, see Construction and civil engineering); only their manufacture in a workshop is classified under 16.23Z.

Classified installations: the public database of industrial sites

There is no official directory of manufacturers. Two public sources do, however, let you check a site or a company before approaching it.

Classified installations (ICPE)
The database of classified installations published on Géorisques lists sites subject to authorisation or registration, whether operating or closed. It can be searched by main activity, SIRET number, Seveso status or Industrial Emissions Directive. Sites that only filed a declaration appear only if they have been inspected, and names of natural persons are not published.
National business register
Since 1 January 2023, businesses register with the national business register (RNE) kept by INPI; commercial companies also remain in the RCS trade register. The register’s information can be consulted free of charge on the DATA INPI platform, one company at a time.

Not in the export

  • headcount, turnover and production capacity
  • quality certifications (ISO 9001, EN 9100…) and approvals
  • ICPE or Seveso status of the site
  • names of buyers, maintenance managers or plant directors
  • machine fleet and processes offered

The 15 columns supplied are described on the export page.

Plant, workshop or head office: choosing the right address

Our records start from published business locations (Overture Maps): a plant or workshop appears at its own address, not only at the head office. Once a record is matched with Sirene, the SIRET shows which establishment it is and the SIREN groups the sites of the same company. For a sales tour or a sample mailing, the production site is the address that matters.

The NAF code reflects the declared main activity. A shop machining parts for aerospace may be classified as industrial mechanical engineering (25.62B) rather than manufacture of air and spacecraft (30.30Z). For a “mechanical subcontracting” target, combine several neighbouring classes instead of relying on a single one.

Generic plant addresses (contact@, info@) belong to a legal entity and, according to the CNIL, fall outside the prospecting rules that protect individuals. A message sent to a person must relate to their profession and let them object easily to further mailings. Details: rules for B2B prospecting in France.

Example request

We make cutting fluids and are looking for industrial machining (25.62B) and bar-turning (25.62A) shops in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté that have a website, for a sample mailing. How many records already have a NAF code, and how many have a phone number?

Use cases

Who uses lists like this

Industrial consumables suppliers

Lubricants, cutting tools, protective equipment: workshops by département for a sample mailing or a sales tour.

Maintenance and automation

Integrators and maintenance firms looking for the production sites of a region to offer contracts and retrofits.

ERP and CMMS vendors

Size a market by NAF division before hiring a sector sales rep.

Industrial freight carriers

Identify plants in an area to offer regular transport or chartering.

Questions

Manufacturing: frequently asked questions

Not yet: our records do not carry a NAF code yet. For records matched with the Sirene database, selection will be by NAF class (for example 25.62A, 25.62B, 25.61Z or 33.12Z) and by département or region. As matching is still in progress, the quote states how many records carry a NAF code and how many do not yet.

No. Classified-installation status is not one of the 15 columns. It can be checked site by site on Géorisques, which also supports a search by SIRET number.

The email addresses in the export are those the company publishes itself, often a generic one. We supply neither managers’ names nor reconstructed addresses such as firstname.lastname@. According to the CNIL, B2B email prospecting without prior consent is possible if the message relates to the recipient’s profession and the recipient can object. See B2B prospecting rules.
